What does CDC state as fact?
Mitochondria

“Do vaccines cause or worsen mitochondrial diseases?
As of now, there are no scientific studies that say vaccines cause or worsen mitochondrial diseases. We do know that certain illnesses that can be prevented by vaccines, such as the flu, can trigger the regression that is related to a mitochondrial disease. More research is needed to determine if there are rare cases where underlying mitochondrial disorders are triggered by anything related to vaccines. However, we know that for most children, vaccines are a safe and important way to prevent them from getting life-threatening diseases. “ http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/mitochondrial-faq.html
“No Scientific Studies” that say vaccines can cause or worsen mitochondrial problems?
No studies is pretty strong – it means No Studies.
None?
Actually… There is this…
It demonstrates:
1.) there are people with weak mitochondrial systems, and
2.) that a key vaccine ingredient can worsen mitochondrial health in those with a defect.
As written by Sharpe, Gist, & Baskin (2013), “…suggests certain individuals with a mild mitochondrial defect may be highly susceptible to mitochondrial specific toxins like the vaccine preservative thimerosal.”
This one seems to document a precise effect on mitochondrial processes…
Yi et al (2012). document a precise mechanism whereby this vaccine ingredient (thimerosal) causes cell death via mitochondria mediated process. “…we investigated the cytotoxic effect of thimerosal and its possible mechanisms on mouse C2C12 myoblast cells…. thimerosal could trigger the leakage of cytochrome c from mitochondria….. thimerosal induces S phase arrest and finally causes apoptosis via inhibition of PI3K/Akt/survivin signaling followed by activation of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway…”
A classic one showing change in mitochondrial processes….
As Yel et al (2005) report : “In this study, we show that thimerosal, in a concentration- and time-dependent manner, decreased cell viability as assessed by calcein-ethidium staining and caused apoptosis detected by Hoechst 33258 dye. Thimerosal-induced apoptosis was associated with depolarization of mitochondrial membrane, generation of reactive oxygen species, and release of cytochrome c and apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) from mitochondria to cytosol. Although thimerosal did not affect cellular expression of Bax at the protein level, we observed translocation of Bax from cytosol to mitochondria. Finally, caspase-9 and caspase-3 were activated in the absence of caspase-8 activation. Our data suggest that thimerosal causes apoptosis in neuroblastoma cells by changing the mitochondrial microenvironment.”
Another…
Hamza et al., (2012 demonstrated that vaccination caused specific, measurable problems with mitochondrial functioning.
“Vaccines can have adverse side-effects, and these are predominantly associated with the inclusion of chemical additives such as aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. …Hepatitis B vaccine exposure increased cell apoptosis as detected by flow cytometry and TUNEL assay. …We report that hepatitis B vaccine exposure resulted in significant upregulation of the key genes …. a low dose of adjuvanted hepatitis B vaccine leads to loss of mitochondrial integrity, apoptosis induction, and cell death…”
Furthermore…
It’s not a “scientific study,” but the CDC statement may gloss over something of import: that the government has not been able to stick to this narrative. At least one case (mobile phone view) of a child– that was presented clearly and in great detail – resulted in the government’s courts conceding that a child with autism had an underlying mitochondrial disorder that was aggravated by vaccination, and indeed ultimately resulted in her autism. The full ruling is censored, sealed, but news stories with quotes are available.
Here is the published case report first authored by the child-above’s MD/PhD father.
Here is a comment criticizing Dr. Paul Offit’s misstatements about the case above.
Here is transcript of what then-CDC-Director Gerberding originally stated about the court case to CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, “…we all know that vaccines can occasionally cause fevers in kids. So if a child was immunized, got a fever, had other complications from the vaccines. And if you’re predisposed with the mitochondrial disorder, it can certainly set off some damage. Some of the symptoms can be symptoms that have characteristics of autism….” CDC Director’s initial response to the case.
Bottom line: Simply stating “no studies” could provide a false impression. Vaccination has been shown to have an adverse effect on mitochondrial integrity and/or functioning, by multiple independent lab groups; and, there is some good evidence there are sub-groups of persons especially susceptible.
